Cordelia Chase

"It's like when I go shopping. I have to have the most expensive thing. Not because it's expensive, but because it costs more."

Cordelia Chase(Charisma Carpenter) is one in a million. At first we see her as Buffy used to be: a self-centered, shallow, spoiled brat. She is among the popular girls in school who only care about fashion and on they look. And she is, of course, Xander and Willow's life long enemy. That is, until they all meet Buffy Summers.

Cordelia reluctantly gets involved with the Slaying when she helps out partially in destroying the Master. After a while, she gets more and more into hanging out with Buffy and the gang, until she becomes a part. So much of a part actually, that on "What's My Line," she kisses Xander.

"I hate you!"
"I hate you!"

They keep their relationship a secret until Willow catches them making out in the stacks at the library... just around the time Angel loses his soul. They start going on in public by "Phases." But in "Lover's Walk," she and Oz caught Willow and Xander making out and breaks up with him. Before this, however, she falls thought some weak wood on some stairs and is stabbed in the stomach.

After she gets out, she starts trying to get back at Xander by flirting with Buffy's new Watcher, Wesley Windham Price. By the end of the season, Wesley gets ready to go back to England and kisses Cordelia for the first time. The kiss is awkard to them and hilarious to the viewers. They pretty much forget about the whole thing.

We learn in season three that Cordelia's father had been making a "mistake in his taxes... for the past ten years," and therefore, even though Cordy got into some great collges, they are unable to send her to one. This is why Cordy moves to L.A. to become an actress. She meets Angel there and starts working as his secretary for his new "detective agency."
