"Human."

"Yes."

"Human," Buffy repeated, in awe.

"Yes," Angel murmured.

"How?" she asked in a breathy voice.

"A ... a demon ... I fought a demon ... and ... I don't know ... something happened ... and ... it made me human."

"You're human," Buffy said, still in shock. She very gently placed her hand over his heart, feeling it thump.

That's when reality sunk in.

"Oh, my God, you're human!" she shrieked, launching herself into his arms. "Oh, Angel ..." she peppered his neck and chest and face with kisses, sobbing. "Oh ..."

He tilted her chin up to look at him. "This doesn't ..."

"Change anything?" Buffy asked. "It does."

"I can't hold you down ..."

"All your reasons just flew out the window, Baby, and they aren't coming back." She pulled away from him, looking at him with bright hazel eyes. "And I'm glad. I'm so glad. Angel ... this is everything we ever wanted .... please don't turn me away. Please don't say no. Please don't let it all slip away ...."

"I ..." Angel trailed off, gulping. "I love you, Buffy."

"I love you, too," she replied earnestly. A tear slipped down her cheek as she reached for him.

He curled his fingers around hers and pulled her to him. He didn't say anything, and he didn't need to.

She leaned up to kiss him gently, a kiss that grew intense with passion. She curled her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist as the continued kissing.

//Still feels like our first night together Feels like the first kiss It's gettin' better baby No one can better this\\

They collapsed onto the table, Angel mindlessly shoving plates and cups left by Cordelia onto the floor, not even noticing as they smashed into pieces.

She was arched against him and he was pressed firmly against her, and it was perfect. It didn't matter that they were on a hard table or that half of Sunnydale was probably worried over Buffy's whereabouts. All that mattered was them, in that moment. Together.

When they pulled apart for a breath of air, they were both gasping. Buffy smiled. "I never ... thought ... I'd be ... happy ... over ... us ... being ... out ... of breath," she choked out.

He kissed her again. "Are you happy?"

"Yes ... are you?"

"More than anything," he whispered.

//Still holdin' on, you're still the one First time our eyes met - same feelin' I get Only feels much stronger - wanna love ya longer You still turn the fire on...\\

Angel gave her an angelic smile that made her heart melt as she pulled him back down to her again.

He moved his lips from hers to press them against her cheekbones, her forehead, her hair, her neck, her collarbone ... he was all over her ... she couldn't think straight ... and she didn't want to.

//So if you're feelin' lonely don't - you're the only one I ever want I only wanna make it good - so if I love ya a little more than I should\\

"Angel ... oh God ... Angel ..." Buffy clawed at his shirt without success, trying desperately to catch her breath and hoping desperately that she never would again.

He reached for her shirt -- and stopped.

Buffy immediately hoisted herself onto her elbows to look him in the eye. "What is it?" she asked, a note of fear creeping into her voice. "What's wrong?"

"I .... I don't think ..."

Tears blinded her eyes as she looked away. "I get it," she whispered.

"No, no you don't!" Angel turned her face back so she could look at him. "I love you. And I want you ... more than anything. But not here. Not now. Not like this. We've been through this once, and I hope we'll be through it again, but after all this time ... not here."

Buffy didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"I love you ... and I want everything to be perfect." Angel looked at her, begging her to understand.

"Why?" she asked softly.

"Because you deserve the best ... and that's what I want to give to you."

//Please forgive me - I know not what I do Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you Don't deny me - this pain I'm going through Please forgive me - if I need ya like I do Please believe me - every word I say is true Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you\\

Angel carefully stood up, picking her up in his arms as though she was his bride. And in his mind -- and hers -- she was.

The bedroom was just a short distance away, and they were in it with the door shut and locked in no time.

He placed her gently on the large bed and then stood up again, looking down at her, a smile on his face. Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, he brushed a strand of hair out of her face. "You're so beautiful ..." he whispered, looking into her sparkling eyes, filled with love for him ... and only him.

"So are you," she whispered numbly, pulling him down to her again for a tender kiss.

//Still feels like our best times are together Feels like the first touch - still gettin' closer baby Can't get close enough Still holdin' on - still number one\\

When they ended the kiss, Buffy looked up at him. "Now what?"

"I don't want to push you into anything ..."

Buffy giggled, a smile spreading over her flushed face. "Believe me when I say I'm not being pushed."

"I want to do it right this time," he told her honestly. "I want it to be perfect ... and I want everything afterwards to be perfect, too."

"It will be ... if it's you," she told him honestly.

"I remember ... what he said afterwards ... what he did afterwards ... it was all wrong ... none of it was true."

Buffy attempted to keep the tears under her lashes, but they spilled down her cheeks. "I know," she whispered.

Angel leaned down to kiss away a tear that was tumbling down her cheek.

"It wasn't your fault. And before ... it was perfect, Angel. I blocked out what happened afterwards from my memory -- it wasn't you, it doesn't count. What we had together ... I remember it all ... and I couldn't ask for more than what you gave me."

//I remember the smell of your skin - I remember everything I remember all your moves - I remember you yeah I remember the nights - ya know I still do\\

"Before ... anything else happens ... I want you to know ... I'll always be here for you. Before ... it was different. Circumstances have changed ... it's time we did too."

//So if you're feelin' lonely don't - you're the only one I ever want I only wanna make it good - so if I love ya a little more than I should\\

Buffy nodded numbly, looking at him. She watched him stand up and light candles and incense, and she watched him flick off the lights before coming back to her.

"Why are you crying?" he asked as a fresh set of tears fell down her cheeks.

"You ... you're perfect ... you're so perfect ... it's so perfect ... thank you," she sobbed. "You're taking the time ... and you care ... and ... and you love me. And I love you, Angel ... so much ..."

"Shhh." He cut her off with a kiss, easing them both backwards into a lying-down position.

//Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you Don't deny me this pain I'm going through Please forgive me - if I need ya like I do Oh believe me - every word I say is true Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you\\/p>

They made love slowly, taking the time to become intimately aquainted with one another. Nothing could be heard throughout the night except their moans and gasps ... and the soft pitter-patter of rain that started sometime in the dark, cold night air.

//One thing I'm sure of - is the way we make love And one thing I depend on - is for us to stay strong With every word and every breath I'm prayin' That's why I'm sayin'\\

The sun peaked earlier than normal that day, shining into the apartment.

Buffy nuzzled against Angel, who was still asleep. Feeling her shift, he slowly opened his eyes to all the beauty- of her.

He grinned at her, and she smiled back, giving him a kiss and running her hand over his chest. "Thank you," she murmured.

"Thank *you*," he told her. "I love you."

Buffy realized that she never got tired of hearing him say that, a warm, happy feeling always flooded her at those words. "I love you," she echoed sincerely.

//Please forgive me - I know not what I do Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you Don't deny me this pain I'm going through Please forgive me - if I need ya like I do\\

When Angel threw back the sheets to get up, Buffy frowned. "Where are you going?"

"To get dressed."

"Okay, why? We have all the time in the world ...."

"I want to cook you breakfast. And then I want to see you in the sun ... I didn't get to ... with the Gem ... it wasn't my redemption. But maybe it was a sign .... that I can still help ... and have this. Have you."

Buffy blushed, but stood up also. "I want to see you ... too."

He gave her a lopsided boyish smile. "Then come on." He reached his hand out to her, and she stood up.

Several minutes later, the two stood out in the LA early morning sun, reveling in it, but above all in each other.

//Babe believe me - every word I say is true Please forgive me - if I can't stop lovin' you Never leave me - I don't know what I'd do Please forgive me - I can't stop lovin' you Can't stop lovin' you\\
